Everdrive N8 Cheats Tutorial

If after setting up the N8, you find that earlier generation games are too hard, this guide is for you ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. ย Find cheats for your game in GameGenie format.
  2. Open Notepad
  3. Paste the cheats you want to use into notepad
halves of code should be separated by “-” for example ZEXP-YGLA or SXI-OPA
code separation doesn’t matter, but I have one code for each line in my files.
  4. Save file as 8-bit ansi text format. ย And use the name of the game, and name of cheats for filename.
  5. You should only add the cheats you want to use, since you can’t select cheats. ALL cheats in the file you load will be activated.
  6. When EDN8 is in NES, and NES is powered on, find the game you want, select “Select Only”
  7. Select your cheats file and load it.
  8. Press “START” on your controller to launch game with cheats ๐Ÿ™‚

Everdrive N8 Setup Tutorial

Image

The reason for this post is that there’s not any good tutorials/guides on how to set this up.

When I write things in quotes, you should use what’s between the quote signs, and EXACTLY like i’ve written it.

The first thing you’ll need is the cart (EDN8: Stoneage Gamer, Retrogate), an SD card, and a computer that can access the SD card.
When you have those things you can just follow these steps to get it working.

  1. Format SD Card
This step is important, because it’ll remove any file system errors on the card.
Krikzz himself recomend you just use windows to format cards and copy roms.
  2. Make Firmware folder on SD Card
create a folder on the root of the SD Card, and name it “EDFC”
  3. Download & Extract Firmware
The best place to get this is from the manufacturer’s site (krikzz.com) (Direct link to EDN8 Firmwares)
Download the latest firmware, and extract it to the EDFC folder on SD root.
  4. Make folder for roms
Make a new folder on SD root, anme it whatever you like, and put the roms in it.
  5. Safely eject SD card, and put it in your EDN8
  6. Put EDN8 in NES
  7. Power on your NES
If NES power light just keeps blinking, the EDN8 isn’t set to your region.ย To fix this, just press the RESET button on your NES repeatedly 5-7 times.
  8. Play games:
open folders/select files with “B” button
    go back with “A” button
start previously loaded game with “START” button
    open menu with “SELECT” button
go up / down file lists with “Up” / “Down”
next / previous page in file list is accessed with “Left” and “Right”

Windows 7 Context Menus

New project:

Now I’ve been coding an app to automaticly make a new cascading menu in Windows Seven’s context menu.

The app lets the user create a menu, edit it’s items, their commands and icons.

When to show menu is configurable. (Folders, All Files, My computer, Desktop)

After the user clicks ‘create’ the app will write two .reg files to the desktop.

One to install the menu, and one to uninstall it.

Executable and source will be uploaded somewhere when It’s finished.

Edit:
I hope noone is waiting for this, since I forgot all about updating this post. I have no idea where the source for the project is, or the executables.

I just realised all this info is easy to google, and if you just want to edit context menus, there are easier ways ๐Ÿ˜›
Google it

Softmodding my Wii

First of all, I updated my Wii System Menu to 4.3E, so all the IOS‘es were updated before I did anything else.

Then I Formatted my SD Card, Found my Wii’s MAC adress, and used LetterBomb to run the Hackmii Installer.

After I Installed Everything in the Hackmii Installer, I used the IOS236 Installer, to re-introduce a bug from older IOS’es. The so-called Trucha Bug.

I got the Trucha bug into an IOS at slot 236 so I could use Dop-Mii to delete the Stub-IOS’es installed by Nintendo.

After those were deleted I installed the newest custom IOS, or cIOS for short. I installed the cIOSX rev21d2x v7. This works great with USB Loader GX, And with Mighty Channels.

Then my external USB Drive was Partitioned With WBFS for Wii Disc Games, and Fat32 for everything else I might need on there.

Now I just had to plug my USB-Drive into the correct USB slot at the back of the Wii, and launch USB-Loader GX from the Homebrew Channel. Insert my game to the Wii’s disc drive, and let USB-Loader rip my game to the USB-Drive. Then rinse and repeat for every game ๐Ÿ˜›

My first entry.

Hello everyone, this is where I [TerminalSmurf] will post stuff about my projects, or my hacked/modded devices or other stuff.

To kick this off, I will add a new post later today about how I softmodded my Nintendo Wii, and ripped all my games to a USB Hard-drive, so my originals can sit safely unscratched in their covers:)

I’ll add descriptions and download links to some of my projects too.

I do a bit of coding in VB.NET, so if there’s a small/quick application you need for anything, just let me know, and I’ll get back to you ๐Ÿ™‚
